May 2022 - Update

Hey everyone!

These monthly update posts are starting to appear later and later in the month, but in my defense we are approaching Peak Busy time in the year for me. My vacation at the end of April was a ton of fun, and I managed to get a painting in at the Everglades, but now it's full on move prep time. 

Let's check in!

Triathlon Training

Some progress on this! Last week I signed up for a Y membership for like. A month. But mainly so I could use the pool. I've been going every other day this week, and since I'll be getting some tattoos touched up around Memorial Weekend, I really want to maximize the time I have at the pool and keep that up. 

Swimming is definitely my weakest sport out of the triathlon, and it's really showing. While I know how to swim, I don't think my form is particularly good, and I have to take a LOT of breaks. My 2nd day went a bit smoother than my first, and I swam a little further, but still. Lots of breaks. It also doesn't help that for the actual triathlon I'll be swimming in the ocean, and the pool is already hard T-T Still, my goal this month is to be able to swim the full 750 meter distance, ideally without stopping. If I can get that confident in a pool, I think I'll be in a good spot to spring off of for ocean swimming. Just sucks that I'll have to take a big break in June and July since I'll be too busy. 

I have also been biking at the gym for around half an hour, though today I bumped it up to 45 minutes. I've started incorporating some weight and strength training as well. Will likely bump those up to replace the absence of swimming next month.

Save Money

I wouldn't say April was as bad as March, but I did spend money on gifts and such. Fortunately I was able to start saving again this week, so I'm hoping to keep my expenses on the low end and keep that up. Still not sure if I will hit my original goal, but we're getting close. 

Move to California

Since the last update, I've put in reservations for a uHaul and storage unit, put in my PTO, and plotted out our route. So things are basically a go. I'll need to do a pre-tow inspection to make sure my car is okay for it, and I'll also want to do a check up on my car in general, especially since the AC doesn't seem to like to work consistently. Right now the big priority is packing, which I've slowly been making progress on. I'm still a little worried on how everything will fit, but I'm trying to be optimistic, especially since I rented out a 15 footer. I just have so much stuff, and it's daunting to try and move EVERYTHING all at once. I'm so afraid I'm going to forget something! My goal is to pack a little bit each day this month, which I already haven't consistently accomplished, but still. So far I've got most of my clothes packed. 

Crytid Dating

Still banging away at those storyboards. We are in the final stretch, with only 3 full scenes and a post-scene left. I'm hoping to get these finished up this month, and then I will likely take a break from June-July to focus on the move and grad school. I'll likely need to adjust my schedule accordingly. Just chugging along the best I can.

And I believe that's the update. Still making progress, just definitely feeling the stress and pressure as we get closer to my move date. I'm not sure if there will be much activity here in the meantime, but I'll be sure to keep you updated as always.
