2022 New Year's Resolutions

Happy 2022! I hope everyone had a great new year celebration.

I know resolutions are not everyone’s cup of tea, but I personally love them. I love making new goals and the potential involved, even if the reality at the end of the year isn’t as ambitious as I had planned. Still! I think it’s good to set your sights on something. As someone motivated by progression, I need to know what I’m progressing towards.

Last year I did pretty well on my resolutions, so I’m hoping to do just as well this year. Without further ado, here are my 2022 resolutions!

  • Save $10K (I failed this pretty miserably last year lol)
  • Find solo apt in California (preferably one I like that I’ll stay in for more than a year)
  • Do a sprint triathlon
  • Open an art store
  • Complete storyboards for independent short
  • Fill out my 5 year journal every day
  • Get better at Scrabble. I got it into my head that I’d like to play competitively someday, so this year is my big training montage! My goal is 400 points individually and 700 points total scored in a solo game
  • 52 new things. Bouncing off of my movies/books/albums resolution last year, I’d like to try 52 new things, whether that’s something I haven’t seen, read, eaten, tried, or done before
  • Watch 12 seasons of animated content. I wasn’t sure whether to do 12 shows or 12 seasons, but figured I’d start off easy with seasons. There are so many animated shows that I want to watch but just don’t make time for, so I’m hoping I’ll be able to prioritize this a little better this year and finally watch some things on my list

And those are my main resolutions! Below are my bonus resolutions, aka things I’d like to accomplish, but know it’s a bit of a stretch, so I won’t beat myself up too much if I don’t get to it.

  • run 300 miles total, for the entire year
  • cook 12 new dishes
  • make a song in ableton (bit of a downgrade from “produce album” lol but I need to start somewhere and figuring out how to use the software and make something I actually like seems a good place to start as any)
  • make a comic for inktober. I know OP is problematic, but I still enjoy the challenge, and having finished my comic from 2018, it inspired me to do one again. But we’ll see how busy my October is
  • write a horror novel for nanowrimo. Again, something I’ve been wanting to do, but we’ll see how busy my November is

And there you have it! My 2022 resolutions. I’m pretty excited about all of them, especially my main ones. I’ll do my best to update y’all on my progress throughout the year. If you’re someone who likes to make resolutions, what did you decide on for 2022? I’d love to hear!

As always, thank you for reading, and I hope your January turns out swell!
