December 2021 Update
Hello everyone!
In the vein of my Patreon, I'd like to start doing monthly updates here, most likely focused on my goals for the year. It's been an idea I've tried to various degrees, but what's one more try? Worst I could do is stop and start again :)
I will say, it is a bit of an interesting month to start these sorts of updates. The year's almost over! But alas, life is still very busy, almost the busiest it's been for me in 2021.
For starters, I am knee deep in moving out of NYC. At the time of writing this, I have my 2nd move prepped and planned for the weekend. Still haven't decided if I will load my car Friday or Saturday morning, but the boxes are packed. Saturday is my intended drive down the coast, but Sunday I'll be coming right back which... will be exhausting haha. This means next week I will have to spackle and repaint my room, give away a few more things, take apart my art desk, load EVERYTHING everything into my car, and drive down that Saturday as well. And, if all goes well, I should be on a plane to Korea that next Sunday! Crazy!
Unfortunately, despite receiving a quarantine exemption, due to the Omicron variant I will still have to quarantine for 10 days. Better safe than sorry though, and I should be able to spend it at my parent's house since I am visiting immediate family. Our plans got rustled a bit, but fingers crossed we should still be able to do a little bit of in-country travel while I'm there.
While the first half of this month is very move-oriented, I'm hoping to use the second half to really finish off my grad school application. I have a portfolio review scheduled, and notes on all my written pieces, so I just need to sit down, put in my revisions, and update my CV. And of course, FAFSA. Really trying not to think about how I'm going to pay for all of this if I get accepted :)
I've also been thinking about what I want my 2022 resolutions to be. I've spent a lot of time hammering out my content goals and making sure it fits within my schedule. I know I mentioned wanting to try again at the "artist" thing, and something I've been considering to go along with that is a full rebrand, including a name change, but I have no idea what to change the name to. I may also switch hosting and migrate this website elsewhere (those squarespace ads finally getting to me). Many decisions to be had!
In terms of my current resolutions, I've been spending a lot of time listening to albums. I'm hoping during my time off I can catch up on my books and movies as well. Turns out watching 52 movies is harder than I thought! At least for me. My sister told me she watches about 52 movies a month, so it's probably just a me problem lol.
In terms of other things, I'm going to the holiday market tomorrow with my friend, and I'll be getting one, small, final tattoo next Wednesday (I know, I know, I said I was done for the year, I lied). I'll also need to finish sending out my Christmas cards, get my birthday cards sorted (lots of birthdays in my life this month) and figure out when and where I'll be painting my dad's birthday present (the man has requested. A Duck Painting.) At least all my Christmas shopping is done and accounted for!
Oh, and I finally released myself from the grips of Adobe subscription plans. Hurray! (I hope)
